On July 2 we celebrated Dimitri Lebrun, as the 14.000th student (Master in Finance) who was officially granted a diploma on the "Graduation Ceremony 2010".

Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School has consolidated its position in the Financial Times Ranking 2010 for Executive Education. The School has confirmed its position as number 1 in the Benelux and retained its place within the top 20 in Europe. On a global scale – in which more than 6,000 business schools are active – the School has evolved into maintaining a permanent Top 40 spot, being listed as 36th.
Vic Swerts, chairman & owner of Soudal, has won the Vlerick Award 2010. The audience chose for Vic Swerts, because he lead his company Soudal with sustained results to the international top in the field of sealants, PU-Foams and adhesives. The other nominees were: Michaël Bremans (Ecover), Thomas Leysen (Umicore) & Jean Stéphenne (GSK Biologicals).
NoVo team, managed by alumnus Tom Auwers (PUB 1992), is the HR Team of the Year 2010. The award "HR Team of the Year" honours a specific project which was brought to a favourable conclusion by an HR team and is a sequel to the famous "HRM Development Award” which was presented until 2007.
On Thursday 15 April 2010, the Vlerick Alumni UK chapter, in co-operation with the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organized a conference on “Sustainable prosperity creation in Flanders in the context of increased European and international competition”. The conference with keynote speaker Luc De Bruyckere (Vlerick Alumnus, Chairman of Ter Beke N.V and Chairman of Voka, Flanders’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry), took place at H.E Ambassador Johan Verbeke's Residence.
On Thursday, 29 April 2010 during the 10th festive anniversary edition of the Vlerick Award in Kinepolis Brussel a new name will be added to the honour roll in the presence of many former winners and former nominees. The winner will be chosen based on the following criteria: "a business leader who guided his company to the international top with sustainable results".
Geertrui en Herman Van Rompuy have handed over the first YouBridge-laptop to the 24 year old Ugandese student Racheal of the International Health Science Universiteit in Uganda. YouBridge is a NGO, founded in 2009 by Vlerick alumni Jonas De Cooman, Pieter Dewinter en Barbara Van Speybroeck – 3 Vlerick-alumni who want to bridge the digital gap between less developed and developed countries.
Alumna Annelies Moens has won the Fundraising Institute of Australia’s NSW Fundraiser of the Year Award.
Alumna Veronique Pauwels (Bain & Company) has won the Young Captain Award 2009, one of Netherland's most famous awards.
